Wider contribution to the education system

At Kings Langley School, we are proud to be more than a single academy trust. While our core purpose is to provide an exceptional education for our own students, our reach, influence and impact extend far beyond our school gates shaping practice, policy and provision locally, regionally and internationally.

As the Lead Hub School for Character Education across the East of England, Kings Langley School plays a pivotal role in developing character-driven approaches that nurture resilience, integrity, leadership and civic responsibility in young people. Our work supports schools across the region and extends internationally, collaborating with partners overseas to develop and embed character education in diverse educational contexts. This outward-facing commitment ensures that our students benefit from cutting-edge thinking and global perspectives, while we contribute meaningfully to the wider educational landscape.

Locally, the school serves as the lead for Delivering Special Provision Locally (DSPL), coordinating and strengthening inclusive practice to ensure that children and young people with additional needs receive the right support at the right time. Through this work, families across the area benefit from joined-up services, professional expertise and a shared commitment to opportunity for all.

Kings Langley School is also the Lead School for the Local School Partnership, co-ordinating and managing family support work across 21 local schools, including 4 Secondary Schools and 17 Primary Schools. Family Practitioners support families using Families First Assessments, short-term pieces of work and advice and signposting. Work completed by the team is a vital part of the Early Help system, helping families to make positive changes to support children achieve their potential.

In addition, Kings Langley School plays a central role as the lead school in the Partnership of Dacorum Schools (PODs), fostering collaboration rather than competition between schools. By bringing leaders together, sharing expertise and aligning strategic priorities, we help to raise standards and improve outcomes for thousands of young people across the region.

Our Headteacher provides leadership well beyond Kings Langley School. He serves as Chair and Lead Headteacher of these local partnerships DSPL, LSP and PODs, he is the Chair of the Home Office-funded Young Futures Programme, a board member of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Violent Crime Reduction drive team, part of the drive team for EduGuard, and Vice Chair of the Management Committee at Dacorum Education Support Centre (DESC). Through these roles, he contributes directly to safeguarding, inclusion, alternative provision and crime prevention strategies that support vulnerable young people and families across the community.

Collectively, this work adds real and lasting value not only to the students of Kings Langley School, but to children, families and schools throughout Dacorum, the East of England and beyond. It reflects our belief that education is strongest when it is collaborative, outward-looking and rooted in service. At Kings Langley School, we are proud to lead, to partner and to make a difference far beyond our own classrooms. This includes school to school support, resource sharing and system level leadership through effective collaboration. This approach continues to engage in partnerships that address local needs, such as contributing to regional, educational, or social initiatives that benefit the wider community and wider education system.
